How to make stickers on Discord?

I’d like to make custom stickers for Discord. What are the requirements and steps?

There aren’t any replies yet, but I want to know too. Does anyone here know if you need Nitro for stickers or can anyone make them?

Hi there starforgez! It’s great that you want to create your own custom stickers for Discord. Adding a personal touch can really liven up your conversations.

The main requirements for Discord stickers are:

  • PNG or APNG file format
  • Under 512 KB in size
  • Square dimensions between 128x128 and 1024x1024 pixels
  • Transparent background

As for the steps to actually make and upload them:

  1. Create your sticker images in your preferred art/graphics program. Make sure to follow the file requirements above.
  2. In Discord, open your User Settings and go to the Stickers tab.
  3. Click the “Upload Stickers” button.
  4. Select up to 15 of your custom sticker files and add them to a new Sticker Pack.
  5. Give your Sticker Pack a creative name and click “Create Pack”.

And that’s it! Your custom stickers will now be available to use. Just keep in mind, you need Discord Nitro to upload stickers. The free version lets you use stickers but not add your own.

Let me know if you have any other questions! I’d love to see how your stickers turn out. Feel free to post an example here when you’re done. Happy sticker making!

@techiekat Thanks, but wait, so you totally need Nitro just to upload? That’s kinda annoying. Is there any way around that or do you know if Discord will change it?

Hello starforgez,

That’s a great question! Creating custom stickers for Discord can be a fun way to personalize your server and express yourself. Since you’re new to this, I’ll walk you through the basics while emphasizing the importance of understanding Discord’s requirements and proper steps.

What are Discord stickers and why use them?

Stickers are images used in chat to express emotions, reactions, or themes. Unlike emojis, they’re often larger and more detailed, making conversations more lively.

Requirements for creating Discord stickers

  • Image specifications:

    • PNG format with transparent background preferred.
    • Size: Up to 320 x 320 pixels (recommended) for clarity but generally should not exceed 512 x 512 pixels.
    • File size: Max 1 MB.
  • Server permissions:
To upload custom stickers, you’ll need to have a Nitro subscription or the right server permissions if using a server that supports custom stickers.

Basic steps to create and add stickers:

  1. Design your sticker:
Use graphic design software like Photoshop, GIMP (free), or online editors such as Canva. Focus on creating a clean, transparent background image that fits the specifications.

  2. Save your image:
Export your design as a PNG with a transparent background.

  3. Go to your server settings:
If you have the necessary permissions, navigate to your server’s settings, then look for the Stickers tab (note: this feature may be available only on certain server plans or with Nitro).

  4. Upload your sticker:
Click Create Sticker, upload your PNG image, give it a name, and confirm.

  5. Using stickers:
Once uploaded, members can use them in chats just like emojis, with options for reactions and inline usage.

Additional tips:

  • Community guidelines: Remember to ensure your stickers are appropriate and respectful to others.
  • Open dialogue: Encourage friends or community members to share their designs to keep the culture collaborative and fun.

Would you like links to good design tools or more info on server permissions?

@BluePine Oh man, thanks! This is all new to me. Can you share those free design tool links you mentioned? I feel lost about what to use.

Oh my goodness, custom stickers on Discord? That sounds… risky. Are you sure it’s safe? My little Timmy’s on Discord all the time, chatting with… well, I don’t even know who he’s chatting with.

Can these stickers… contain hidden messages? Like, trackers? Is that possible? I read somewhere about hidden metadata, and I’m just… terrified.

Okay, okay, deep breaths. But… what if someone uses these stickers to, like, find where Timmy is? Or get his personal information? Is there a way to make sure the stickers are safe from those… bad people?

Please, someone, tell me it’s not a security nightmare! And how can I be certain Timmy isn’t sharing anything… dangerous? I need to know now!

@marvynx I never thought about stickers being risky. Is there a way to check if a sticker has hidden data or am I just supposed to trust where I get them from? This stuff is confusing.

lilMarvynx lol, chill with the government paranoia—if stickers had secret trackers, they’d be too busy being stickers to stalk little Timmy, get over it.

@BookwormBeth Wait, so you’re saying stickers can’t have hidden stuff like trackers? I didn’t know if images could actually do that or not.

@marvynx It’s completely natural to feel protective and cautious about what your child is exposed to online, especially with the complexity of digital communication today. Regarding Discord stickers, they are essentially image files—usually PNGs—with no inherent capability to carry hidden trackers or reveal personal data like location. While technically images can contain metadata, most Discord stickers are stripped of complex metadata during the upload process, minimizing risks. The bigger concern in online safety tends to be more about who your child interacts with and what they share personally, rather than the media they use like stickers. Encouraging open conversations with your child about online boundaries, recognizing suspicious behavior, and using parental controls can significantly enhance digital safety. Creating a healthy relationship with technology involves trust and education—helping Timmy understand safe behavior is just as important as monitoring tools. If security is a key concern, you might also explore Discord’s privacy settings and third-party monitoring apps that empower parents to keep an eye on activity without intruding too much on digital wellbeing.
